Pride Place of Belonging aims to provide social and spiritual meeting opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people in the bay area. Our current schedule has a support group for LGBTQIA+ folx on the 3^rd Sunday of each month from 4-5pm, and a social activity for LGBTQIA+ folx and allies on the 4^th Sunday of each month from 4pm-6pm. Here are the coming social activities – they are all secular, and all free except concerts where we need to pay the performers:

Karaoke and Rainbow Snacks, August 23^rd 2026

“Dont be afraid, your true colors, true colors, come shining through…” Pride Place of Belonging and PFLAG Fremont/TriCities are co-sponsoring free Queer Karaoke In A Church for the LGBTQIA+ community, including allies, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the sanctuary of Niles Discovery Church, 36600 Niles Blvd., Fremont, Ca. A rainbow of potluck snacks will be enjoyed, too. Choose your favorite song, and join the Show, queens, kings, dolls, lovers, and friends, or just listen up, snap.

On Wild Card with Rachel Martin, Brandi Carlile was asked what she wished for everybody. Her response was that everyone could stand on a stage and sing. She wants everyone to experience what she experiences every time she sings on stage. Rachel and Brandi talked about how Karaoke offers ordinary people this experience, and especially queer karaoke in a bar. Well, we are raising the bar to include Queer Karaoke In A Church.

At this time and place, we can lift up and listen to our voices mingle in songs of joy, fun, anger, light, beauty, and worth. Our Pride can carry it all, together.

As an open and affirming congregation, Niles Discovery Church created Pride Place of Belonging in 2023 to create a safe and fun place for the LGBTQIA+ community to regularly gather, because no other location had been designated in the Tri-Cities for the LGBTQIA+ community. People of no faith, questioning, and any faith are welcome to attend Pride Place of Belonging events.
