Pride Place of Belonging, the LGBTQIA+ program of Niles Discovery Church, is restarting in July. The Pride Place of Belonging organizers are planning monthly gatherings on the third Sunday of the month, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the church (36600 Niles Blvd., Fremont).
The first hour (4:00-5:00) will be a support group for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, run by Pastor Jeff (with Cindy Sojourner substituting when Pastor Jeff is away). The support group will be a place to celebrate achievements and support one another with life’s struggles. It will include a time for check-in and to dig into any issues that need some extra time from the group. The support group will meet in Room 3.
The second hour (5:00-6:00) will be a social event (a different one each month) for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families and allies. Here’s the schedule of social events for the rest of this year.

Each year on December 21, Niles Discovery Church holds a special “Longest Night Service.” This service is designed to create space for anyone who finds the holiday time of year to be challenging. Those challenges can be caused for many reasons, and they can include facing burdens, estrangement, and grief. Join us in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. for this special service that makes room for those feelings while gently offering hope through quiet, candlelight, music, and prayer.

As an open and affirming congregation, Niles Discovery Church created Pride Place of Belonging in 2023 to create a safe and fun place for the LGBTQIA+ community to regularly gather, because no other location has been designated in the Tri-Cities for the LGBTQIA+ community. People of no faith, questioning, and any faith are welcome to attend Pride Place of Belonging events.
