King of Kings
Pastor Jeff explores the radical, revolutionary nature of Jesus' teachings and the concept of the Kingdom of God, contrasting it with humanity's persistent "hunger for power and control". Reflecting on current events like the war in Ukraine and the occupation of the West Bank in Palestine, Pastor Jeff draws parallels to biblical times, including the Roman occupation during Jesus' birth. He presents Jesus' Third Way—the way of nonviolence—as a powerful alternative to worldly power. The sermon focuses heavily on "the problem with kings". We look back to the moment Israel first demanded a king, defying God's warning that a king would oppress and exploit them. Pastor Jeff challenges the traditional view of kingship, arguing that kings and empires have always stood in opposition to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We discover the true nature of Jesus' "kingship"—a world where the last are first, where he washes the feet of his friends, and where hierarchy is undone. The Kingdom of God is described as one of human solidarity, nonviolence, and shared goods. The message concludes with a challenge: If we call Jesus "King," it must be a demand to the "Caesars of this world, be they political or corporate," that they are not our Lord. Key Topics: The radical nature of Jesus' teaching Walter Wink's "Third Way" of Nonviolence The history of power and control Biblical warnings against kingship (1 Samuel) Jesus' counter-cultural Kingdom of God (Contains a clip about nonviolent resistance featuring comedian David Nihill)

A New Hope
Guest preacher Carissa connects her deep love for science fiction and the compelling narrative of the Star Wars prequel series, Andor, with the enduring scriptural messages of hope and endurance. Drawing parallels between the struggle against the Galactic Empire and the challenges faced by Jesus and his followers under the Roman Empire, Carissa interprets Luke’s warnings of persecution and Revelation’s promises of a new creation. The core message: Endurance gains the soul. Carissa argues that hope is not passive, but an action word. She challenges us to connect with our spiritual center, find the courage to endure injustice, and actively work in community to alleviate suffering. Tune in to discover why, as the Star Wars rebels famously say, “Rebellions are built on hope.” #Sermon #Hope #StarWars #Andor #Inspiration #Faith #Endurance #Community #SocialJustice

The Center that Holds
In a world defined by chaos, conflict, and division, how do we find a stable center? Rev. Dr. Marty Williams dives into the unsettling prophecy of William Butler Yeats' famous poem, "The Second Coming"—where "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world." This powerful sermon confronts the "rough beast" of fear and hate threatening our society and offers a profound theological answer. Is the Second Coming a single apocalyptic event, or a continuous invitation to anchor ourselves in God's love and act with compassion now? Discover why faith and love are the true centers that hold in the midst of global and social stress. Find hope, peace, and the courage to be a witness to a world that desperately needs a quiet, unwavering center.

Dreaming God's Dream
Join Rev. Jeffrey S. Spencer as he explores his favorite biblical story: the encounter between Simon Peter and the Roman centurion, Cornelius (Acts 10). Pastor Jeff unpacks how Peter's dramatic dream of "unclean" foods was a powerful lesson from God, moving him beyond a mindset of scarcity and exclusion to a profound vision of abundance and radical welcome. Learn how Peter’s journey to embrace those he had labeled as "unworthy" offers a timeless message for us today—one that breaks down the boundaries of culture, religion, and prejudice. This sermon connects the ancient text to modern struggles for inclusion, sharing a personal reflection on the journey toward acceptance as an LGBTQIA+ person. Rev. Spencer reminds us that God’s love is the most abundant resource on earth, big enough to include absolutely everyone, even our enemies. Listen and be challenged to: Identify areas where fear and suspicion narrow your own sense of who belongs. Embrace an expansive vision of inclusion that reflects God's non-partiality. Dream with God and join in the work of justice for all people and creation.
