Good morning. On behalf of the Green Team, I am inviting everyone in the sanctuary and everyone on zoom. From the very youngest to the very oldest, to make Valentine's. These will be special Valentines, because they are going to be delivered to Ro Connor and Eric Swalwell. Our representatives in the US House, with messages to have a heart for climate justice.
We are doing this as part of the United Church of Christ Climate Hope campaign. Represented by the flag you see in front of you next month. UCC purchased from all over the country are sending church members, like our own green team, to meet with their federal representatives to let them know how very important climate care and justice is to us as Christians.
Caring for the earth is a moral imperative that our government needs to lead on. The green Team will be delivering all these Valentines to our representatives, as well as meeting with them either face to face or by zoom on or around Valentine's Day immediately after worship. Today, when we gather in Fellowship Hall, you will see a table full of supplies, including blank cards that have been pre addressed to representatives, and we ask that you help yourself and get creative with crayons, stickers and your own personal messages to promote climate care.
Have fun with this. We do know that the incoming administration wants to get rid of clean energy tax credits. In light of that, an example of a message might be please protect clean energy. There will be some sample messages on display, but we also encourage you to create your own messages and be sure to sign your card. There will be a place to do that on each card.
The green team will take care of bundling and delivering these cards when we meet with our representatives in February. We hope that you all can stay a while after church to make a few cards, but if not, you can take materials home with you and return your cards to the church office by next Sunday for people on zoom.
You are most welcome to participate from home. Just arrange to have your Valentines at the church office by next Sunday, January 26th. That same deadline applies to anyone who won't be at fellowship today, or would prefer to make their Valentines Day at home. That's all good. On behalf of the green team, thank you very much. It is the little things that can make a big difference and make as many as you can, because the more Valentines, the louder along the law, the more loudly will our message be heard.
