Mark 11:27-33

Jesus’ Authority Is Questioned

27 Again they came to Jerusalem. As he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him28and said, ‘By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do them?’29Jesus said to them, ‘I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.30Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin? Answer me.’31They argued with one another, ‘If we say, “From heaven”, he will say, “Why then did you not believe him?”32But shall we say, “Of human origin”?’—they were afraid of the crowd, for all regarded John as truly a prophet.33So they answered Jesus, ‘We do not know.’ And Jesus said to them, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.’
Ephesians 5:22-28
22 Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord.23For the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, the body of which he is the Saviour.24Just as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives ought to be, in everything, to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,26in order to make her holy by cleansing her with the washing of water by the word,27so as to present the church to himself in splendour, without a spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind—yes, so that she may be holy and without blemish.28In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
